These saunas use infrared panels instead of conventional heat to easily penetrate human tissue, heating up your body before heating up the air. In a far infrared sauna, about 20% of the heat goes to heating the air and the other 80% heats your body. This radiant heat penetrates the skin more deeply than traditional saunas.

What you can do while in the sauna? Relax, read, meditate, listen to music, or visit with friends.

Number of sessions per week. Most facilities that offer infrared sauna treatments recommend using the sauna three to four days per week. If you are healthy and tolerate the four days, you can use the sauna daily.
Do not enter a sauna if you are pregnant or are intolerant to heat. If you are sick/ ill it is best to wait until you are feeling better before entering high temperatures (especially if feverish).
Infrared sauna therapy works by using infrared light to generate heat, which is absorbed directly by your body rather than simply heating the air around you, as traditional saunas do. This creates a deep, therapeutic sweat at lower and more comfortable temperatures. Here's how it works in more detail:

Infrared saunas use far, mid, or near-infrared wavelengths to heat the body from the inside out. These wavelengths penetrate the skin and reach muscles, joints, and even internal tissues more deeply than conventional heat.
As your body absorbs this heat, it raises your core temperature and activates your sweat glands. This sweating helps the body eliminate toxins, including heavy metals, chemicals, and other impurities stored in fat cells—something regular saunas may not achieve as effectively.
Infrared heat stimulates blood flow and expands blood vessels, which helps deliver more oxygen and nutrients to tissues. This can aid in muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and support cardiovascular health.
The deep-penetrating heat helps to relax muscles, reduce stiffness, and alleviate joint pain by increasing circulation and reducing inflammation. This makes infrared sauna therapy popular among athletes and people with chronic pain conditions like arthritis or fibromyalgia.
Increased circulation and sweating help cleanse the skin and promote collagen production, which can lead to clearer, softer, and more youthful-looking skin.
The gentle, soothing heat of an infrared sauna also helps lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and promote relaxation, improving mood and even supporting better sleep.
